Veterans Day!

Take sometime today to tell someone that you know, who has served in any of the armed forces, thank you. They have given a lot, sacrified themselves to preserve the United States' way of life, our liberties and our freedoms. To any of my readers who has served in the armed forces, Thank you very much and Gob bless you! Happy Veteran's day.

Yes, I know I haven't written anything of substance recently, but life has been busy and school ain't no fun! But somethings are in the pipeline, be patient, my two readers!

Vote Today!

Today is Election day here in the good Ol' USA. People will be heading to the polls today to vote for their Governors, Senators and House Representatives. I know that the youth tend to disregard these election but they matter. Because unlike the Presidential election were swing state voters matter more, in the midterms all votes matter the same and they all count the same. So if you are young, head to the polls today and make your voice heard.

I encourage y'all (Texas life) to vote Donkey Blue! I may also resurect my blog to discuss what this election means for everyone, the rest of the President's term and excintigly the Presidential election of 2016, which starts today.

The Holder Legacy

Eric Holder, who has been the Attorney General since the beginning of the President's first term, has announced that he is retiring from office. With his departure, the last of the high profile members of the original Obama cabinet has left. He won't be leaving his office at the Department of Justice immediately, he will wait until a successor has been appointed and confirmed. His term has been historic, he, like the president is the first African American to occupy his prestigious office. During his term the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was repealed by the Supreme Court, effectively opening the path for marriage equality in the nation. His term also saw the deep polarization of the United States and the worsening of race relations. His term also saw the supreme court gut the Voting Rights Act, a matter than had been dear to his heart. His term also saw the Citizens Unit decision by the Supreme Court, gutting finance regulation laws and opening the door for the monsters that are the superPACs. It was not the most pleasant term for an Attorney General but it was a remarkable one and he will be remembered for a long time.

Ukraine

I am resurrecting my blog from death, life happens, because I, in my infinite vanity would never miss out a opportunity to say 'I told you so.' According to the Guardian, Russian troops have been interfering in Easter Ukraine, helping the dissidents against the new Ukrainian administration, led by oligarch Petro Poroshenko. Ukraine and Russia are supposed to enter this ceasefire that is completely on the terms of Vladimir Putin.

Manuel Valls and the Second Chance

Of course Francois Hollande nominated Manuel Valls to Matigon, there was no other choice for him, a man whom I consider rather bland, charisma-less and incapable of sticking to a decision. After dangling the glorious suggestion of a Martine Aubry prime ministership, Francois Hollande settled for the safest pick. A change in government was needed, and after the crushing defeat that was suffered by his PS in the municipal elections, which are always used as a confidence vote to the party in power, nominating Valls looks like a sensible choice.

China in France and the Coming Changing of The Guard

This week France received the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, to great pomp and circumstance for his first ever State visit in France. No expense was spared in welcoming the head of the second most powerful country and the fastest growing economy in the world. As usual there is always a little hypocrisy involved when the head of a western country receives a Chinese delegation, there were no mention of human rights etc. a stark contrast let's say if Hollande were to receive the President of Cameroon or any other impoverished nation, human rights would be at the forefront.

Dire Times for Ukraine

Guys (by that I mean my few sparse, readers, joking!) I am following this Ukraine situation like a hawk because it basically reads like the old timey maneuvers by the USSR against the United States and like many people, I am beginning to think that the cold war is back. I'm still travelling so these post will be shambolic and rather badly written and for that I am truly sorry.
